Frequently Asked Questions

Where can we go on a typical private tour? As my tours are entirely private where we go exactly is worked out between us. Also, at any time, you can change what you would like to do or see on the day. For instance, if a particular location really appeals, and you wish to spend some more time there taking it all in, that is no problem at all. I am completely flexible.

What is the minimum and maximum number of people on a private tour? Minimum is one person. A discount will apply if you are travelling alone. The maximum is four people.

You say your tours are priced "from". What does this mean exactly? My prices for a full day tour and short day tour are based on numbers of travelling guests as follows:

Party Size
Full day tour
Short day tour (6 hours)
1-2 guests
£475.00
£425.00
3-4 guests
£525.00
£475.00

Collecting and returning to a location outside of the central Cotswolds will incur a small additional charge, which will depend on distance and time taken.

Additional fuel charges will apply if higher than average distances are covered. I will let you know what this is likely to be once the itinerary is agreed, but it does not normally apply to a typical day tour.

Can you drop me somewhere different to where you will collect me from? Yes, certainly, but please bear in mind there may be a small additional charge if the location is outside of the central Cotswolds area.

Do you charge any payment transaction charges? No. I pay these.

Will there be anyone else on our tour with us? No. My tours are entirely private.

What trains do I take if I am coming from London or anywhere else? I will check these for you prior to your journey and let you know the details in good time

How much experience do you have? I am now in my seventh year of providing private tours of the Cotswolds.

Do you take families with children on your tours? Absolutely. Some of my most priceless days have been with families with children or teenagers.

Do you speak any other languages? Although I have tried hard, I am afraid I do not, but I can book an interpreter for your tour if you wish. However, having brought up three boys, I now understand child and teenager!

Where will we eat? I usually suggest we have lunch at my 'local', The Swan Inn at the lovely small Cotswold village of Swinbrook. I have been going there on and off for over 45 years, and the food is delicious! You can also choose a tea room if you wish but you cannot reserve tables at tea rooms. You can book at the Swan and during the busy season this is very reassuring.

Do you have a cancellation policy? Yes I do. Please follow this link.

Why should we choose you? I am a Cotswolds born and bred native, I know the area very well and I love sharing it with others. I also love what I do. I am also very grateful to my guests for writing such lovely testimonials so I hope that these will help you to decide. Here is the link.

Will there be enough comfort stops? I think I know where every rest room is located in the Cotswolds! There will therefore be plenty of opportunities for comfort stops.

Do you have child car seats? Our children are all grown up now so I am afraid I do not.

Do you have room in your vehicle for a wheelchair? Yes, I have room for a fold down wheelchair.

What insurance do you have? My vehicle is specifically insured for tour guiding. I also have public liability insurance for up to £5,000,000.00

Are you properly licensed? I am licensed for Private Hire by West Northamptonshire Council. My vehicle is checked annually. I am also required to have regular medical check-ups.

Do you have breakdown cover? Yes, I am covered by the RAC for breakdown cover.

What vehicle do you use for touring? An immaculate and spacious air conditioned Landrover Discovery.

Is the Cotswolds one of the best places in the world to visit? No, it is the best place in the world to visit. Let me show you.
